Một cảnh trong phim ''The Grand Budapest Hotel.'' (Nguồn: Fox)Trong những đề cử vừa được Viện nghệ thuật Điện ảnh và Truyền hình Anh (BAFTA) công bố ngày 8/1, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” là bộ phim nhận được nhiều đề cử nhất với 11 hạng mục.
Những tác phẩm xếp sau đó là “Birdman” (10 đề cử), “The Theory of Everything” (10) và “The Imitation Game” (9) đều là những ứng cử viên nổi bật cho Oscar sắp tới.
Cả bốn tác phẩm kể trên đều được đề cử ở hạng mục Phim xuất sắc nhất. Bộ phim cuối cùng góp mặt trong hạng mục đáng chú ý trên là “Boyhood” – bộ phim của đạo diễn Richard Linklater mất tới 12 năm để thực hiện.
Tại hạng mục Đạo diễn, những cái tên có khả năng đoạt giải là Alejandro G. Inarritu (Birdman), Richard Linklater (Boyhood), Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), James Marsh (The Theory of Everything) và Damien Chazelle (Whiplash). Một điều bất ngờ là tại hạng mục Nam chính, ngôi sao Steve Carell của “Foxcatcher” lại vắng mặt dù anh được xem như ứng cử viên hàng đầu tại Oscar 2015.
Ngôi sao này lại được chuyển sang đề cử tại hạng mục Nam diễn viên phụ, để lại cuộc đua tới BAFTA Nam chính cho Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Michael Keaton (Birdman), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) và Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel).
Với vai diễn nổi bật Amy trong bộ phim gây sốt đợt cuối năm là “Gone Girl”, Rosamund Pike đã được ghi nhận với đề cử tại hạng mục Nữ chính. Những đối thủ của cô sẽ là Amy Adams (Big Eyes), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Julianne Moore (Still Alice) và Reese Witherspoon (Wild).
Là một giải thưởng của Anh, BAFTA có riêng một hạng mục để tôn vinh những bộ phim của Xứ sở Sương mù. Danh sách đề cử những bộ phim Anh hay nhất năm nay bao gồm “The Imitation Game,”
“The Theory of Everything,”
“71,” “Paddington,”
“Pride” và “Under the Skin.” Buổi lễ trao giải sẽ được diễn ra ngày 8/2 tại London.
